PROPOSED PROJECT
The applicant requests Design Review approval to construct an approximately 5,006-square-
foot, two-story residence with an approximately 1,262-square-foot attached garage (see the
partial Site Plan in Figure 3). Table 1 summarizes the development standards for new
construction as prescribed in the Estates on Oak Ridge Architectural Design Guidelines and
provides a comparison of the subject proposal to those standards.
Proposed Architecture
The proposed residence is designed in a French Country architectural style. The design
guidelines indicate this architectural style typically features steep roof pitches with hip and
gable elements, porches and verandas, divided-light windows, stucco walls combined with
brick or stone, arched windows, shutters and light earth tone colors. In this case, the residence
exhibits steep roof pitches with gable elements, a large front porch, smooth stucco and
horizontal siding (on dormers) walls combined with stacked stone. The body color is light tan
with light and dark brown trim. The roof is gray-colored composition shingle.
