IX. CONCLUSION
The City of Pleasanton requires a conditional use permit for the keeping of fowl in single-family
residential districts provided the keeping or maintenance of the animals is done in such manner,
number or kind that does not cause damage or hazard to persons or property in the vicinity or to
generate offensive noise, dust or odor. The proposed project meets these standards. Staff finds
that the applicant's chicken coop is positioned consciously, is kept tidy, and does not produce an
order or ill effect. Staff further finds that based on the noise reading and the site inspection, the
hens do not pose harm to the surrounding neighbors and they comply with the requirements of
the Pleasanton Municipal Code.
X. STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends that the Planning Commission approve Case PAUP-2:
1. Make the required use permit findings for PAUP-2 in the staff report; and
2. Approve PAUP-2 to allow four chickens (hens) to be kept in the backyard of the
existing residence at 1021 Malaga Court in accordance with Exhibit A and subject to
the conditions in Exhibit B.
Staff Planner:Rosalind Rondash, (935) 931-5607, rrondash~a pleasanton.ca.us
{end}
Case No. PAUP-2 Planning Commission
Page 6
