Mayor Tarver was not certain, but thought it would be April 10 in San Diego.

Ms. Michelotti said the most cost efficient proposal was the ACE train. Highway
84 and the BART extension to Livermore were also on the list. She urged contacting the
Governor and legislators to support this.

Mayor Tarver indicated he had intended to vote no on Consent Calendar item 4e,
the BART extension to Livermore. He is fed up with the way growth is funded. He will
campaign against the next Measure B re-authorization and will continue that until
someone gets the message sales tax is not the way to pay for growth and the
transportation needs of the future. Some of the proposed projects are very costly and he
felt them were other alternatives.

It was moved by Mayor Tarver, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to add a future
agenda item to review the timing and/or removal of the Bernal Avenue/Koll Center
traffic signals.

He felt these signals have only made traffic on Bernal Avenue worse. They may
be helping vehicles coming off the freeway and going to the business park, but are not
helping residents or traffic flow. He wants an opportunity to discuss that.

Ms. Ayala indicated she has had at least five comments regarding these signals.

Ms. Michelotti indicated she drives this route at least four times a day and she was
not in favor of removing the signal.

The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Ayala, Pico, and Mayor Tarver
NOES: Councilmembers Dennis and Michelotti
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Mayor Tarver inquired if the City would sponsor a float in the Alameda Cotmty
Fair parade on June 24, 2000. He suggested highlighting the Commissions and supported
a suggestion to have the Youth Commission do it. He asked that the idea be presented to
the other Commissions. In the worst case, he would agree to a car for Councilmembers.

Mayor Tarver then referred to the Home Town Hero applications and said the
deadline was extended to April 21, 2000 for nominations. Forms are at the library and at
City Hall and can be turned in to Roger McLaln at the Lions Club. A youth and adult
home town hero will be selected.

Ms. Dennis was concerned about the requirement to provide a resume for the
nominee.

Pleasanton City Council 29 04/04/00
Minutes
