It was moved by Ms. Michelotti, seconded by Ms. Dennis, to adopt the <br />Alameda County Waste Management Board's recommendation to retain the <br />existing structure of the County's Local Task Force, as described in Option 4. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico, and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br />7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL <br /> <br /> Ms. Dennis indicated Council had received an invitation from the Agriculture <br />Subcommittee. These are the people who split off from the Open Space and Agriculture <br />Committee of Vision 2010. These are ranchers and people developing a business plan for <br />agriculture in Alameda County. There are many demonstrations of environmental <br />mitigation, handling of streams and other agricultural activities. This will occur on <br />Saturday, April 15, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. It is an open house event with sheep <br />dog trials, 4H demonstrations, etc. Members of the Planning Commission are also <br />invited and she felt the Youth Commission might also be interested. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Ms. Dennis, seconded by Ms. Ayala, to add an item on a <br />future agenda regarding review of animal control, leash laws and penalties. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti agreed an informational item was appropriate and a discussion of <br />this was warranted. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers - Ayala, Dennis, Michelotti, Pico, and Mayor Tarver <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br /> <br /> Ms. Ayala indicated she wanted local funds returned by the State. Over $21 <br />million has been taken by the State since 1992. She had a discussion with <br />Councilmembers from Dublin and Livermore and would like to organize local officials to <br />go to Sacramento. She firmly believed the State surplus would be better spent at the local <br />level. She will work on getting a date set and inform Council. <br /> <br /> Ms. Michelotti referred to a report from the Metropolitan Transportation <br />Commission regarding the future blue print for improvements. There was additional <br />information regarding the Govemor's plan to allocate an additional $7 billion for <br />transportation. The top priority projects are within the Tri-Valley area.
