Pleasanton Gateway Environmental Checklist
2. AGRICULTURAL RESOURCES
Environmental Setting
The project site is designated as "Urban and Built-up Land" by the California Department of Conserva-
tion. "Urban and Built-up Land" is occupied by structures with a building density of at least one unit to
LS acres, or approximately six structures to a ten-acre parcel. Common examples provided by the CDC
are residential, industrial, commercial, institutional facilities, cemeteries, airports, golf courses, sanitary
landfills, sewage treatment, and water control structures.
Standards of Significance
For purposes of this environmental document, an impact is considered significant if the proposed project
would:
• Convert Prime Farmland, Unique Farmland, or Farmland of Statewide Importance to non-
agricultural uses;
• Conflict with or result in the cancellation of a Williamson Act contract;
• Adversely affect agricultural production.
i.~ss than
Polentialty Signifcant Lcss'I~han
Significant Wilh Mitigation Signiticatrt No
Issues Imnact Incorporated Impact Impact
Agricultural Resources
In determining whether impacts to agricultural resources are significant environmental effects, lead
agencies may refer to the California Agricultural Land valuation and .Site Assessment Model (1997)
prepared by the California Dept. oJConservation as an optional model to use in assessing impacts on
agriculture and farmland Would the project:
a) Convert Prime Farmland, Unique Farmland, or Farm- ~ ~ ~ X^
land of Statewide Importance (Farmland), as shown on
the maps prepared pursuant to the Farmland Mapping
and Monitoring Program of the California Resources
Agency, to non-agricultural use?
a) Conflict with existing zoning for agricultural use, or a ~ ~ ~ X^
Williamson Act contract?
c) Involve other changes in the existing environment, ^ ^ ^ 0
which, due to their location or nature, could result in
conversion of Farmland, to non-agricultural use?
Discussion
a-b) The project site is designated as "Urban and Built-up Land" by the California Department of
Conservation. Agriculture Resource impacts are not applicable to this project related to the Cali-
fornia Department of Conservation land use designations. Therefore, this would be a no-impact.
Pleasanton Gateway Initial Study Page 14 of 37 November 8, 2006
