Pleasanton Gateway Environmental Checklist
Standards of Significance
For purposes of this environmental document, an impact is considered significant if the proposed project
would:
• Substantially alter or degrade the existing visual character or quality of the project site;
• I-lave a substantial effect on a scenic resource; or,
• Substantially increase light or glare in the project site or vicinity, which would adversely affect
day or nighttime views.
Less 'Khan
Potentially Significant Lcss'fhan
Significant With Mitigation Significant No
Issues Impact Incorporated Impact Impact
Aesthetics
Would the project:
a) Have a substantial adverse effect on a scenic vista? ^ ^ ^ ^X
b) Substantially damage scenic resources, including, but ^ ^ ^ ^X
not limited to, trees, rock outcroppings, and historic
buildings within a state scenic highway?
c) Substantially degrade the existing visual character or ^ ^ ^ ^X
quality of the site and its surroundings?
d) Create a new source of substantial light or glare, which ^ ^ ^X ^
would adversely affect day or nighttime views in the
area?
Discussion
a-b) "I'he proposed project is located on an intill site within an existing business park. The site and
surrounding area are not designated as a scenic resource, scenic vista, or a scenic highway.
Therefore, this would be a no-impact.
c) The site is flat absent any significant natural landscaping, e.g., heritage-size trees, or other sig-
nificant natural features. Its surroundings consist of the recent commercial buildings in the
Stanley Business Park constructed across Bernal Avenue from the site and by the Temple Beth
Emec Synagogue and Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Station. Therefore, this would be a no-impact.
d) The proposed project includes standard on-site lighting for the site and buildings. Exterior light-
ing will be designed and controlled to be the lowest wattage and luminosity so as not to add to
"night sky pollution". The types of materials and colors to be used on the project will not create
glare. Therefore, this would be a /ess-than-significant-impact.
Pleasanton Gateway Initial Study Page l3 of 37 November 8, 2006
