My daughter is
in kindergarten at Hearst Elementary. We have met numerous families with whom I hope to foster neighborly
friendships. A public trail would allow my daughter, and eventually son, to walk to friends' homes without my
fear for her safety or my having to drive her there.

The other two entrances (from Sunol Blvd. and San Antonio Rd.) are not reasonable alternatives. First, the
entrance through San Antonio is not convenient for our home on San Juan Way, because my small children
cannot walk or ride that far to make it through to the adjacent neighborhoods and return home. Second, I
must drive my child if we use the Sunol entrance. I have once tried on bikes to go out to Sunol Blvd. and
around to Sycamore. I was frightened for my children's safety and have not done it since. I would hate to see
a horrible accident occur like the one that took the lives of the two children on Tassahara Blvd. in Danville.

We urge you to retain the plans for a pathway between San Carlos Way and Sycamore Terrace. We know that
Pleasanton is a community that supports safety and building neighborhood communities.

Jilland Tony BaBilega
5836 San Juan Way
Pleasanton
925-846-3354

2/1/2005
