2 c2 <br />Under new business Councilman Amaral brought to the attention of the Council <br />complaints heard from the property owners on Division Street relative to the gutter <br />problem there. He advised that Alfred Avilla had water overflow from the gutter into <br />his cellar. The matter was broughtito the attention of 14r. Rodrigues who in turn <br />advised that if the property owners w ould co- ,operate in the matter of cleaning up <br />leaves along that street and not leave it to the municipality to take care.of that- <br />the condition would not exist. Councilman Amaral also spoke with reference to the <br />bridge situation at lower Division Street. After a discussion it was decided that <br />the Clerk should write to the County Surveyor asking that he confir with the Council <br />sometime at: ?h•is convenience at which time the matter would be brought to his attention. <br />Also the Clerk was instructed to speak with Supervisor Hellwig in connection with same. <br />Attorney Nilson questioned the Council with reference to sidewalks and gutter <br />to be installed in connection with the Neal Street crossing in order that he might <br />complete his report to the Southern Pacific Company. It was ordered that the work <br />be completed.in January. Also that the Southern Pacific Company should give the <br />Town the grade after which it was expected that the track would be raised and the <br />street work put in. <br />The following resolutions were then presented: <br />Resolution No.1631 -= Authorizing the payment of the salaries of the municipal officers <br />for the month of November amounting to $770.00- The resolution <br />was adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by councilman <br />Rivolta and with all the councilmen in favor of same. <br />No.-1632--Authorizing the payment of $1615 -88 to the Southern Pacific <br />Company for expenses incurred in connection with widening and <br />improving Neal Street crossing as per Agreement Audit No. 42814 <br />A. of D. 15990 dated May 10, 1937 during the months of June, <br />Jul and Augus j, 1237 as authorized by Resolution No. 1615 <br />L.( .t��rtii►.'rJ. .a.. mow.Gay.,.Nciwa4d X7" e",.. o�. G.. ..�...J�..rr1. <br />No. 1633 -A Resolution Declaring certain Streets in the Town of Plelsanton <br />to be streets of Major Importance, viz. <br />Main Street from the northerly limits of the '`own of Pleasanton <br />to be the 6outherly limits of the 'sown of Pleasanton, R <br />St. Mary's Street from its intersection with the Westerly line <br />of Main Street to its intersection with the NortheMsterly <br />line of Division Street, <br />Division Street from its intersection with the southwesterly <br />line of St. Mary's Street to the Northerly limits of the. <br />Town of Pleasanton. The resolution was adopted on motion <br />of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman Trimingham and <br />with all the Councilmen in favor of same. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned t 0:05 o'clock to meet <br />in regular session, Monday;revening, January 3, b at 7: o' l ck. <br />Approv - ---- E3e�k- 01 <br />Mayor <br />Pleasanton, California, 1Xanuary 49 1938: <br />The down Council of the Town of Pleasanton was called to order on the above <br />written date with Mayor W hos. Orloff presiding. Present at roll call were: Council- <br />men Madsen, Amaral, Rivolta, Trimingham and Orloff. <br />The-Clerk then read the minutes of. the December 6th meeting. Following the read- <br />ing of the minutes of this meeting, Uouncilman Madsen brought to the attention of <br />the Clerk that the minutes did not include his objection to the franchise being <br />granted the P.G.& X. Co. and likewise his reason for making the obj ection..h1r. Ma.d'sen <br />stated that he objected for the reason that the municipality reserved to itself <br />certain privileges, one of which was the granting of franchises, and when these were <br />given to utility companies the rights of the municipality were jeopardized and he <br />did not wish to impair the future. Accordingly, he desired it to be a matter of <br />record that he was against the P.G.& E. Co. and any other utility company being <br />granted a franchise to distribute electric energy within the city limits.
