;L <br />Attorney Nilson reported to the Council that an inspector::ofthe Pacific Indemnity <br />Company had recently made a survey as regards the company's liability policy within the <br />municipality and that certain recommendations had been made. These he stated were <br />improvements to the benches and tables in McKinley Park, the former to be thoroughly <br />gone over and repaired and the latter properly braced and-bolted. Also that the <br />wiring over the tables in the park should receive attention.. He stated that a "Keep <br />Out" sign was advisable at the sewer farm gate. Also special piping over old water wells <br />should be fixed. Mr.. Nilson brought-to the attention of the council certain legislation <br />pending before the State Legislature as reported to him by the League of California <br />Municipalities. Mr. Nilson recommended that the Clerk write to our representatives at <br />Sacramento asking that they vote in the interests of the municipality. The legislation <br />effects the inspection of milk and meat, exempts household goods from taxation, also <br />removes local taxation on the rolling stock of the railroad companies and bars Municipal- <br />ities from licensing wholesalers making deliveries within the municipality. After a <br />discussion on the matter, councilman Amaral.suggested that the clerk write to Senator <br />Knowland and Assemblyman Cassidy with reference to the bill asking them to put forth <br />their efforts towards its defeat. <br />Mayor Orloff brought to the attention of the Council his plans to go abroad for <br />a four months period beginning June 1st and he asked for a leave of absence for that <br />period. Attorney Nilson advised that a motion would be in order granting the Mayor <br />permission to.leave the state for a four months period. On motion of Councilman Amaral, <br />seconded by Councilman Madsen and with all the Councilmen in favor of same, permission <br />was granted Mayor Orloff to leave the state for a four months period beginning June first. <br />The following resolutions were then presented: <br />Resolution No. 1612 -- Authorizing the payment of the.salaries of the municipal officers <br />for the month of April amounting to $710.00. The resolution was adopted on motion of <br />councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman Olesen and with all the councilmen in favor of <br />same. <br />Resolution No. 1613 -- Authorizing and instructing the Clerk to return to..the General <br />Fund of the own of leasanton the sum of $545.98 which he was authorized and instructed <br />to borrow as of April 5, 1937, per Resolution 1608 in order to complete payment due on <br />interest and bend. The resolution was adopted on motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded <br />by Councilman Amaral and with,all the councilmenu in favor of same. <br />Resolution No.1614 -- Authorizing and instructing the Clerk to cancel Tax Bill No. 184, <br />assessed to.C.A. and Edith B. Kingsley in the sum of 70¢, issued in error, as the said <br />property had been previously transferred to Jens P. Sorensen, and was assessed to Jens <br />P. Sorensen as part of property assessment No. 183, Tax Bill No. 183, in the Assessment <br />Roll of the Town of Pleasanton for the year 1936 -37: The resolution was adopted on <br />motion of Councilman Madsen, seconded by Councilman Amaral and with all the councilmen <br />in favor of same. <br />There being no further business the meeting adjourned at 10:55 o'clock to meet <br />in special session, Monday evening, May 10th at 8 o'c;.pck. <br />Ael <br />e <br />Pleasanton, California, May:;101 1937• <br />The Town Council of the Town of Pleasanton was called to order in special sese.ion <br />on the above written date,. at 8 o'clock, with Mayor Thos. Orloff presiding. Present at <br />roll call were: Councilman Madsen, Rivolta, Olesen and Orloff. <br />The Mayor stated that the meeting had been called to consider the revised agree- <br />ment received from the Southern Pacific Company.At the Mayor's request, Attorney Nilson <br />presented the revised agreement drawn up between the Southern Pacific Company, a Kentucky <br />Corporation, and its Lessor the Central Pacific Railroad Company, a corporation and the <br />Town of Pleasanton. The agreement referred to Application No. 20653 "in the matter of <br />the application of the Town of Pleasanton,.a municipal corporation for order to widen <br />and improve crossing," and setting forth the following: <br />1st: Railroad shall furnish the materials and perform the work of constructing and <br />maintaining said crossing between the rails of said track etc. <br />2nd: Railroad shall furnish the materials and perform the following work in <br />construction of said crossing: <br />A. Repairing existing culvert etc. <br />B. Extend the said culvert etc. <br />C. Extend existing drain pipe <br />rd: Town agrees to reimburse Railroad promptly upon receipt of bills thereof <br />48.8% of the cost and expense incurred by railroad etc. <br />4th: Town shall at its own cost and expense furnish the material and perform the <br />work of widening and improving said crossing etc. <br />4. <br />1209'. <br />
