<br />The claims were referred to the finance committee for audit and report.
<br />The Clerk then presented the following reports of the municipal officers:
<br />Water Department: -- Showing that water had been turned on at 8 places and off at 5
<br />places. Cleaned and cut weeds at.Bark, fixed by -pass at Pump House and repaired 5 meters.
<br />The rport showed that there were 425 taps-in town and 38 outside of town. There were 496
<br />services in town (On 450, Off 46) and 42 services outside of to--.-,,n (On 3'7, Off 5) total
<br />number of services 538. The expenses of the department amounted to $504.86 and the
<br />income $769.30, leaving a total over and above expenses of $264.44. The report also
<br />showed that 3,720,000 gallons of water was pumped during the month.
<br />Town Clerk : - -The report showed that he had delivered 41 licenseq to,_the.,Marshal,.f or
<br />.collection amounting to $528.00 and 458 water bills amounting to $1029.50. The report
<br />showed that the balance onhand per last report amounted to 11,281.06 and since then
<br />the following collections have been made: licenses from marshal $332.00., taxes from
<br />marshal 2,030.69, water bills from marshal 0799.05, milk inspection ./fees from marshal
<br />$34.43, fees from recorder's court $180.00. From Town Clerk: Dahce'fees $5.00, Solvent
<br />Credits and Intangible assets $4.17, bank of America Interest $9.20, making a total of
<br />14,675.60, less amount of warrants issued April 5, 1937,05,153.79, leaving a cash balance
<br />in the hands of the Treasurer of $9,521.81. This was divided as follows: -General Fund
<br />$7992 33, Water Bond Fund 80716.91, City Hall Bond Fund $13.47, 1929 Municippl Improvement
<br />Bond Fund $493.82, hlunicippl,Improvement Bond Fund $305.38.
<br />Su ertintendent of Streets: -- Showing that, work on the streets during the month of April.
<br />amounted to 456.63. .
<br />Town Marshal: -- Showing that he received 458vater bills amounting to $1029.50. He collected
<br />water bills amounting to $799.05 and returned water bills amounting to $230.45. He also
<br />collected licenses amounting to $3,32.00 s follows: 1935 -36 licenses: 1 license ,@ $12.00,
<br />1936 -37 licenses: 17 licenses @ 12.00 --- 204.009 6 licenses,@ $16.00 -- X96.00, l license
<br />C 20.00 -- X020.00. He also collected milk. inspection fees amounting to `34.43 and.
<br />taxes amounting to $2012.64.
<br />Treasurer: -- Showing that the Water Deposit Fund had 473.50 on hand per last report and
<br />since then X012.50 had been collected making a total of $86.00, less amount of warrants
<br />issued $7.50, leaving 078.50 in the Water Deposit Fund. There was X015.99 on hand in the
<br />Water Surplus Account. There was $466.29.6n hand in the Curb and Gutter Project Fund.
<br />.The Treasurer had on hand in the General Fund $11,281.06 per last report. He received
<br />$3394.54 during the month making a total of 414,675.60, less amount of warrants paid
<br />out $05153.79, leaving a cash balance of 6.9521.81 in ' the General Fund.
<br />City Judge;--The report showed that $0180.00 had been collected in f ines during the
<br />month of April.
<br />Health Officer : -- Showing report of activities during the month of April, 1937.
<br />Fire Chief : -- Showing report of activities during the month of April. Also special
<br />remarks and recommendations.
<br />Milk Inspector: -- Showing laboratory report of milk samples for April.
<br />Ashton Britten: -- Showing laboratory report at the sewer farm during the month of April.
<br />The reports were referred to the finance committee for audit and report.
<br />The following communications were then read:.
<br />April 7th-- L.S.Bush, Chief Engineer of the Board of Fire Underwriters, with reference to
<br />recently inspection of the fire defense system of Pleasanton and inclosing a list of
<br />recommendations which are designed to point out major defdc6ncies and assit the City
<br />officials in planning future improvements. These recommendations were with reference to
<br />water supply, fire department, fire alarm and laws.
<br />May 3d-- T.H.Silver, Secretary - Treasurer of the Pleasanton Fire Department, calling to
<br />the attention of the Council payments due the department for the years 1935 and 1936
<br />and in the total amount of $240.00.
<br />A recess followed during which the finance committee examined Claims No.433•_ to
<br />472 inclusive and amounting to 41069.99. After the meeting had been called to order
<br />again, Councilman Rivolta of the finance committee reported that the committee had
<br />examined and approved the claims and made a motion to the effect that they be paid.
<br />His motion was seconded by Councilman Amaral with all the Councilmen in favor of same.
<br />Councilman Rivolta also reported that the officers monthly reports were accepted and
<br />moved thsr they be placed on file. '
<br />Councilman Rivolta brought up the matter of the Rate Advisory Service from the
<br />Pacific Gas & Electric Company, and advised that he thought the matter should rest as is.
<br />There were no objections to same from the other councilmen and accordingly the present
<br />.schedule .04 was left-in affect as against Schedule 1-14? as recommended. Councilman
<br />Amaral pointed out that the 'savit g .was very little.
<br />Action on the communications was as follows:
<br />April 7th: - -Board of Fire Underwriters. The Mayor called on Fire Chief Letham with
<br />regards to the report. Mr. Letham advised that there were only two recommendatiorB in
<br />which he was immediately concerned for the present, namely, incr'eas'e of men and new
<br />hose needed. As regards hose, he advised that there was considerable hose on hand
<br />which is not good enough for street work and that the department did not have on hand
<br />the supply of good hose that they did some years ago. He advised that he recently had
<br />the hose 'tested by Mr. Henderson of the American Rubber Company and it was found that the
<br />good hose included about 1300 feet whereas in other years 1800 feet was available.
