Also action with regards to trees on Angelita <br />Street was taken up and it was decided that the Council should go over the situation <br />on Wednesday evening, October 9th at 6 o'clock and come to a decision. <br />The second and final reading of i0rdinanc "e No. 1709"An Ordinance Prohibiting the <br />Sale of Milk Other than Pasteurized bilk and Certified Milk.,, For Human Consumption <br />in the Town of Pleasanton," took place and'it was passed on motion of Councilman <br />Amaral and seconded by Councilman Madsen and with all the Councilmen present in favor <br />of same. <br />The Clerk brought up the contract of the Shell Oil Company for gasoline, same <br />being for a one year period beginning September 20, 1935 and ending September 19, 1936 <br />in'which gasoline would be furnished the municipality at a price not to exceed Ile. <br />The Clerk explained the situation as it presently existed and that previous contracts <br />submitted in past months concerned a price of 132 ,0, these contracts having been <br />received from the Standard Oil Company, Union Oil Company and the Signal Gil Company. <br />The matter was set over until another meeting with no action taken. <br />The following resolutions were then introduced: <br />Resolution No. 1558 -- Authorizing the payment of the salaries of the municipal <br />officers' and amounting to $745.00. <br />" "•" " No. 1559 -- Authorizing the Clerk•to cancel License No. 39, Oakland <br />Cigarette Service $16.00 on account of discontinuing <br />deliveries in the Town of Pleasanton. <br />" " to No. 1560 -- Authorizing and instructing the Clerk to borrots; from the <br />General Fund and transfer to the Municipal Improvement Bond <br />Fund _and the 1929 Municipal Improvement Bond Fund the <br />following: To the Municipal Improvement Bond Fund $50.66, <br />to the 1929 Municipal Improvement Bond Fund $689.15. <br />No. 1561 —Authorizing the Clerk to draw a wrrant on the Town Treasurer <br />in favor of T. H. Orloff. Present at <br />roll call were: Councilman Madsen, Amaral, Rivolta, Olesen, and Orloff. <br />Councilman Olesen reported on the removal of trees on Angela Street and to <br />the affect that he had contacted a number of property owners with regards to the <br />removal of such trees as would have to be taken out. <br />The Clerk advised that the W.P.A. project as regards curb and gutter would <br />start Wednesday morning, October 23 at 8 o'clock. <br />Mr. Lee.Newbert and Mr. Paul E. Sloan of the Pacific Gas & Electric Company <br />were then introduced. Mr. Sloan explained the reasons for the P.G.&E. making <br />application for a franchise, the nature of the franchise as regards a constitutional <br />franchise, the use of the streets for the furnishing of electricity and gas. The <br />uncertaintity as regards rights under the constitutional franchise was then <br />discussed between the City Attorney and Mr. Sloan, the matter being explained as <br />a supplemental franchise. Discussion then followed among the Councilmen about <br />the matter during which numerous questions were asked of Mr. Sloan. Mr. Nilson <br />was instructed to go into the matter and to report back to the Council at some <br />future session. It was also ordered that the Council should meet next Monday <br />evening, October 21st to go into the matter further. <br />1149 <br />
