Educational Standards Committee An Educational Standards Committee comprised of a representative of the Police Officers' Association, Assistant to the City Manager and the Chief of Police shall be established for the purposes of: Determining the eligibility of each employee to enroll in the Educational Incentive Program. Determining in advance of enrollment in the Edu- cational. Incentive Program the job relatedness of the educational level the employee intends to pursue. NOTE: The burden of proof as to the job relatedness of specific educational levels shall be upon the employee. The Educational Standards Committee may require the employee to furnish any docu- mentation dee~ed necessary in the Committee's determination of job relatedness. Determining successful completion of the educational level for which educationalincentive pay is to be received. Enrollment Procedures Employees wishing to enroll in the Educational Incentive Plan must do the following: Not later than 45 days prior to enrolling in a junior college, college or university, make written appli- cation to the Education Standards Committee in order that the Committee may: (1) determine the employee's eligibility to enroll in the Education Incentive Plan and (2) determine the job relatedness of the educa- tional level to be pursued. The Educational Standards Committee shall inform the employee in writing of their determination not later than 30 days following their receipt of the employee's request to enroll in the Educational Incentive Pay Plan. -14-
