16.3 <br /> <br />16.4 <br /> <br />educational incentive pay for eligible degrees <br />college credits earned prior to their date of <br />employment at the time they reach the top step <br />of their classification's salary range. <br /> <br />or <br /> <br />NOTE: Job relatedness shall pertain to both the <br />relationship of the field of study to the position <br />held by the employee and, the relevance of the edu- <br />cational level to the employee's position. <br /> <br />Educational Standards Committee <br /> <br />An Educational Standards Committee comprised of a <br />representative of the Police Officers' Association, <br />Assistant to the City Manager and the Chief of Police <br />shall be established for the purposes of: <br /> <br />Determining the eligibility of each employee to <br />enroll in the Educational Incentive Program. <br /> <br />Determining in advance of enrollment in the Edu- <br />cational. Incentive Program the job relatedness of <br />the educational level the employee intends to <br />pursue. <br /> <br />NOTE: The burden of proof as to the job relatedness <br />of specific educational levels shall be upon the <br />employee. The Educational Standards Committee <br />may require the employee to furnish any docu- <br />mentation dee~ed necessary in the Committee's <br />determination of job relatedness. <br /> <br />Determining successful completion of the educational <br />level for which educationalincentive pay is to be <br />received. <br /> <br />Enrollment Procedures <br /> <br />Employees wishing to enroll in the Educational Incentive <br />Plan must do the following: <br /> <br />Not later than 45 days prior to enrolling in a junior <br />college, college or university, make written appli- <br />cation to the Education Standards Committee in order <br />that the Committee may: (1) determine the employee's <br />eligibility to enroll in the Education Incentive Plan <br />and (2) determine the job relatedness of the educa- <br />tional level to be pursued. The Educational Standards <br />Committee shall inform the employee in writing of <br />their determination not later than 30 days following <br />their receipt of the employee's request to enroll in <br />the Educational Incentive Pay Plan. <br /> <br />-14- <br /> <br /> <br />
