ian~.lhe retirement of about 12 miles of Southern Pacific <br />trackage between the aforesaid limits; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Public Utilities Commission of the State of <br /> California has assigned the Project at position number 5 on <br /> the Railroad-Highway Grade Separation Priority List established <br /> for use during Fiscal Year 1981-1982, and an allocation of <br /> $5 million has been made by the California Department of <br /> Transportation for the Project; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, ENGINEER is qualified and licensed to perform <br /> the professional engineering services required under the <br /> terms of this Agreement, and hereby agrees to perform such <br /> services in accordance with the terms and conditions stated <br /> hereinafter; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, for purposes of administering the terms of this <br /> Agreement, the COUNTY OF ALAMEDA is designated to act on <br /> behalf of CITY. <br /> <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS AGREED BY THE PARTIES HERETO AS <br /> FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />A. ENGINEER'S COORDINATION RESPONSIBILITIES <br /> <br /> The ENGINEER shall be responsible for the overall coord- <br />ination of the Project and for the following listed specific <br />activities: <br /> <br />1. Maintain liaison with Railroads, in an effort to expe- <br /> dite railroad trackwork and other work performed by <br /> railroad forces. Consult with Railroads with respect <br /> to location of piers and footings on railroad property <br /> and/or adjacent to railroad tracks, shooflys, maintain- <br /> ing rail'traffic during construction, and other design <br /> requirements. <br /> <br />Maintain liaison with. the Public Utilities Commission <br />of the State of California, with respect to needed PUC <br />Orders Authorizing Construction, and to qualify for <br /> <br />-2- <br /> <br /> <br />
