SPECIFIC SUBGOALS, POLICIES, AND

IMPLEMENTATION PROGRAMS

Adequate and Affordable Housing

Subgoal I.

It is a goal of the City of Pleasanton to effectively
encourage the provision of housing which will vary
as to density, type, design and cost in order to
meet the needs and desires of the entire community.

This subgoal recognizes that there is a range of housing need
in Pleasanton as in most communities.

Policy 1

It is the policy of the City of Pleasanton
to ensure that 25% of the total housing stock
at full development shall be multi-family,
both owner and renter occupied.

Pleasanton is predominately a community of single-family homes.
Over the years the desire of local residents to foster a continued
suburban lifestyle wherein the advantages of lower density living
can be enjoyed has been continually expressed. At the same time
it is recognized that a certain proportion of local residents, for
both economic and personal reasons, will not choose or be able
to own or rent a single-family home.

-5-
