GOALS/POLICIES/IMPLEMENTATION <br /> <br />GENERAL GOAL AND BASIC POLICY STATEMENT <br /> <br />As in many communities housing is a major issue in Pleasanton. <br />Skyrocketing housing costs, the shortage of rental units and <br />the growing number of Pleasanton residents who may be "overpaying" <br />for housing are some of the more serious concerns. In this <br />section of the element various ordinances, policies, and other tools <br />are presented as a workable program to address housing needs in <br />Pleasanton. It provides a set of means to help fulfill basic <br />housing needs while retaining the community's attractiveness, <br />identity and balanced development policies. <br /> <br />IT IS THE GENERAL HOUSING GOAL OF THE CITY OF <br />PLEASANTON, TO THE EXTENT POSSIBLE, TO FULFILL <br />BASIC HOUSING NEEDS AND PROVIDE A SUITABLE LIVING <br />ENVIRONMENT FOR ALL CURRENT AND FUTURE RESIDENTS. <br /> <br />This general goal will serve as the basis for the subgoals, <br />policies, and implementation programs which follow. <br /> <br /> <br />
