Mr. Robert L~ Warnick October 29, 1984 Page 4 Phase Two - Construction Services Task 11 - Preconstruction Conference Following the award of the construction contract, CDM will participate in a preconstruction conference attended by the successful bidder and his subcontractorso Pertinent questions raised by the Contractor relative to the conditions under which the work is to be performed, interpretation of the specifications and contract documents, and delineation of the areas available for construction activities will be answered. Task 12 - Shop Drawing Review After award of the construction contract, shop drawings submitted by the Contractor in accordance with the terms of the contract will be reviewed for compliance with the plans and specifications. The shop drawings will be reviewed promp~y with an attempt to limit the "turn around" time to as few days as possible to minimize Contractor's potential claims for delays in construction. Task 13 - Clarifications and Assistance with Change Orders During the construction period, CDM will respond promptly to the Contractor's request for clarification of the plans and specifi- cations. CDM will assist in the preparation and evaluation of necessary change orders ~fnich may result from an encounter with unforeseen foundation conditions, necessary changes in the plans, or other reasons. Assistance will include an estimated dollar value of the change order as issued, and assistance in negotiations with the Contractor in an attempt to arrive at a fair and reasonable cost of the change order. Task 14 - Liaison with City Staff During the construction phase, CDM will meet with the City staff as required to keep the City aware of progress of the work, problems involved in the construction, and relations with the Contractor. Task 15 - Inspection During the constructio:~ phase, periodic visits to the site will be made to observe the pragress and quality of executed work and to determine, in general, if the work is proceeding in accordance with the adopted construction schedule. if a concrete reservoir is con- structed~ inspections will be made during the major concrete pours.
