CAMP DRESSER & McKEEINC.

Mr. Robert L. Warnick
October 29, 1984
Page 2

Determine physical properties of the soil and the under-
lying bedrock, perform a geotechnical analysis, and
prepare bearing pressure, earthquake loads, and other
geotechnical parameters for reservoir design and site
grading.

e. Prepare a report describing a. through d. above.

Task 3 - Develop Preliminary Design A1 ternatives

Tentative design alternatives will be formulated. The alternatives
will include various reservoir locations, types, configurations,
grading, and screening schemes for the reservoir. The overflow eleva-
tion will be maintained to match the overflow at the existing Bonde
Reservoir.

A 1.8 million gallon steel reservoir at grade will probably be the
least cost alternative. However, the limitations of the site may pre-
clude construction of a steel reservoir if a shielding berm to totally
screen the reservoir is found to be necessary. One alternative that
will be studied is the screening all owed by partially burying a steel
reservoir and providing additional screening with trees. Other alter-
natives will include buried and partially buried concrete reservoirs.

Freehand sketches and preliminary cost estimates will be prepared for
each of the feasible alternatives. The alternatives will then be
evaluated relative to each other, considering reservoir type, con-
struction costs, maintenance costs, aesthetics, visual impacts, and
other aspects.

Task 4 - Meet with City Staff

Upon completion of Task 3, CDM will meet with the City to discuss the
design alternatives and any problems or constraints associated with
the alternatives. Based on these discussions, a recommended alter-
native will be jointly adopted by the City and CDM.

Task 5 - Prepare Preliminary Design and Construction Cost Estimate

Using the alternative adopted in Task 4, the tentative design will be
expanded to produce a preliminary design for the proposed reservoir-
This preliminary design will include piping and valving arrangements,
reservoir dimensions, site grading, and other features, together with
the preliminary design for the proposed pipeline and access road. The
preliminary design will be prepared in sufficient detail to develop a
reliable preliminary cost estimate for the completed work, and a
detailed preliminary cost estimate for these facilities will be
prepared.
