BACKGROUND
In the fall of 2005, the City of Pleasanton entered into a two -year contract with Team
Econolite for the maintenance of the City's traffic signals. After the two -year contract
expired, two additional one -year extensions were issued at the mutual agreement of the
City of Pleasanton and Team Econolite. Since the previous contract only allowed a
maximum of two one -year extensions, staff solicited proposals for a new maintenance
contract to be effective July 1, 2009.
DISCUSSION
The City received two proposals from qualified companies, Republic ITS and Team
Econolite. Team Econolite was the lowest qualified bidder at $146 per month per
intersection. Recent work performed by Team Econolite for the City of Pleasanton and
other agencies has been verified to be satisfactory.
Selection of the contractor was based solely on the monthly preventative maintenance
rate. The City negotiated prices with the contractor for additional work items due to
damage by vehicular collisions, acts of God, malicious damage, or signal upgrades and
other repairs not included in the contract (see Attachment 1 for Summary).
The term of the proposed contract is for two years, expiring on June 30, 2011, with the
option of extending the contract for two additional one -year terms, upon agreement of
the City and the contractor.
Submitted by: Fiscal Review:
Brian Dolan
Director of
Community Development
Attachments:
1.
