• The job shadow part was a way to see how the city works outside of our
everyday lives. I really liked the discussion group because it was a way to get
out teen ideas and how we would like the city to develop activities
• I liked how we got to see the different facilities in Pleasanton and the overall
advice the shadow gave us
• I liked how we got to voice our opinion in real issues going on in Pleasanton
today. My job shadow (major) answered my questions I had and made me more
interested in becoming a lawyer or even an official in city government
• I liked how we had the chance to ask professional as well as personal questions
so we could better understand what it takes to be in government. I also liked
being able to sit in on and give input in a real meeting and discussion about
actual issues
• I liked participating in issues that the government actually is facing like discussion
of the stimulus project
• I liked how we got to go through the day with our shadow. Enjoyed learning
about some of the maintenance that must be done to keep the city going.
• Yes! I loved it! It was lots of fun and I enjoyed it a lot. Also I loved the food.
The whole presentation looked great.
• Learning more about the city and what my job shadow does. This also opened
me up to other ways I can get involved with the city. I am going to apply for
YMCP or the youth commission.
• I liked how I got a firsthand look at what the city does and how people function
within the city
• I liked the food -being able to walk around the classrooms
• I really liked following a police officer, it was very interesting
• I like going to the new playground on Bernal and a day out of school but I did like
learning from the adults about community and parks
• I followed the parks department and learned about things I would never had
thought about that go into creating and managing parks in our city
• I liked the opportunity for us to see how our government works
Going to my old elementary school with John Casey
• I really enjoyed shadowing our superintendent and getting a peek into how the
school government runs. It was really exciting to learn firsthand from Dr. Casey
the budget crisis and how we're going to fix it, giving my opinions on Channel 30
and listen to and help in editing the parcel tax proposal. Really eye opening. It's
wonderful how willing the shadows were to teaching us taking with us
• Gave a chance to learn outside of school
• Follow family and friends -learn about jobs
• I loved going back to elementary school and talking with the kids
• I really enjoyed shading and looking at how schools run and what administrators
do
I was exposed to many new jobs, people, and opportunities. I didn't know that
careers I am interested in are available at the community level (city attorney,
child psychologist)
• The networking: job opportunities and recreational center
