will educate their peers about [he urgent need to recycle, and the connection between recycling and global warming, <br />impact 6,000 students on school campuses, and measurably increase recycling activity among Alameda County teens. <br />Alameda County Fairgrounds, OS-20, Recycling and Diversion, Pleasanton, Fast County - $20,000 to improve the <br />amount of trash and debris [hat is recycled and diverted at our annual county fair by moving the recycling and diversion <br />process closer to the source. Fair will encourage the 400,000 patrons to assist in the recycling efforts, butjust as <br />important instill a desire to do more in their individual homes to recycle and divert. <br />Livermore High School, OS-34, Livermore High Recycling, Livermore, East County - $17,500 to purchase and <br />provide (10) additional recycling collection systems to be used throughout the new campus building <br />A total of $162,335.00 was awarded from the project grant total funding allocation of $23Q,000. <br />Multi-Year Grants <br />The Education Advisory Board awarded I multi-year grant to the following projects: <br />Chabot Space and Science Center, 07-13 (2"~ of 3 years), Zero Waste College Intern Training Program, Oakland, <br />West County - $50,000 "the intern program will build experiences with teen and college student internship programs and <br />provide interns with valuable career awareness in waste management as well as giving them training and real world <br />experience in informal environmental education for youth K-12. <br />A total of $50,000.00 was awarded from the multi-year grant total funding allocation of $50,000.00. <br />Board Initiated Yrolects <br />There were no Board Initiated Projects dw~ing the 2008 grant cycle. <br />ALARM Mitigation Projects <br />Pursuant to the terms of the settlement agreement, the 2008 <br />Expenditure Plan allocated $10,000 for mitigation projects for <br />landowners in the vicinity of the landfill. The Education <br />Advisory t3oard corresponded with ALARM (Altarnont <br />Landowners Against Rural Mismanagement) to notify them of <br />the available funding. No applications were submitted for <br />consideration during the 2008 funding cycle.
