ATTACHMENT 3 <br />Guidelines for Grantseekers <br />DEADLINE: FRIllAY, APRIL 17, 2009 <br />Altamont Settlement Agreement <br />Education Advisory Board <br />A. What are the objectives of the Education Advisory Board'? <br />fhe objectives of the Education Advisory Board arc to promote waste prevention and <br />recycling, job training and education through: <br />• Waste prevention and recycling prograrns that serve schools (sending recycling <br />supplies, program materials and other education activities such as fled hips); <br />• Non-formal programs, serving students, K-12; <br />• Community-based waste prevention and recycling education prograrns; <br />• Job training in the field of waste prevention and recycling. <br />B. What categories do the Board fiord and how much money is available in each category? <br />The Educational Advisory Board offers mini-grants, ranging from $500-$3,000 each, and <br />project grants, which average approximately $20,000 each, with a maximum request of <br />$50,000. <br />C. Whxt amount of money can an applicant expect and what arc the terms? <br />fhe length of grants is one year for mini-grants as well as for project grants. The Board <br />will also consider multiple-year grants (up to three years). If applying for amultiple-year <br />grant, applicants must provide justification and an annual budget and schedule. A limited <br />number of multiple-year grants in excess of $50,000 will be considered. <br />U. Who is N;ligiblc to Apply? <br />Grant money is limited to those serving citizens of Alameda County and the cities of San <br />Ramon and San Francisco, with the exception of franchise waste haulers. <br />E. What is the Process for Applying? <br />Mini-grant applicants must submit amini-grant application, enclosed with this packet and <br />also available online. Applications must be received by Friday, April 17, 2009. If all <br />mini-grant funds arc not disbursed, applications will be accepted throughout the school <br />year. <br />Project grant applicants must submit a project grant application, enclosed with this packet <br />and also available online, and must also include other requested information by the <br />deadline of Prirlny, April 17, jar Ure 2009 ealendnr year. <br />
