The strategic planning framework will function as the Youth
Master Plan's organizing structure. It will identify a guiding vision statement,
supported by goals and strategies that illustrate the major actions necessary to move
the City towards realizing its vision for the future of community facilities, programs
and services for Pleasanton's youth.
2.1 a MIG will prepare a draft for discussion. This draft is intended as a starting point
for Committee review and further completion by the City. This document will include
a compilation and organization of input received to create a framework that includes:
• Vision: The ideal future state for Pleasanton's youth resulting from
achievement of the community's efforts
• Values: Desired characteristics of the community and its youth
• Goals: Broad courses of action to achieve the vision
• Objectives and Strategic Directions
21 b For this document to advance and be well-received by the YMPIC and the
community, MIG recommends hosting two work sessions with the YMPIC to allow
them to validate the vision values, goals, weigh-in on the objectives and provide
substantive input on the strategies. These work sessions will include a brief overview
presentation with the large group, small group discussions and group report backs.
The meetings will be about 1.5 hours in length.
MIG will transcribe the content generated at each meeting and then refine and
organize the feedback to create a cohesive document. MIG will present the draft at
the second review session and solicit additional feedback. MIG will revise the draft
based on the feedback received and submit it to the City as a final draft.
Deliverable: Memorandum summarizing key findings and recommendations
Estimated timeframe: February/March 2010
Revised Scope and Budget for Pleasanton Youth Master Plan Page 5
MIG, Inc.
Feb 16, 2009
