Section 12. Health and Welfare Coverage <br /> <br />12.1 <br /> <br />Hospital and Medical <br /> <br />Effective January 1, 1984, the City shall contribute an <br />amount necessary to provide hospital and medical care <br />benefits under either the present Blue Cross Plan, Kaiser <br />S-! Plan or, upon implementation, the third health insur- <br />ance plan referred to in the following paragraph for the <br />individual employee and a portion of the amount necessary <br />to provide coverage for eligible dependents; provided, <br />holyever, that in no event shall the City be obligated to <br />contribute an amount in excess of One Hundred Forty Eight <br />Dollars ($148.00) per month per employee to provide the <br />aforesaid coverage. Effective June t, 1984, the City's <br />maximum monthly contribution for said medical coverage <br />shall be increased to One Hundred Eighty Five Dollars and <br />Thirty Four Cents ($185.34). <br /> <br />The City shall undertake a study of alternative health <br />insurance plans for the purpose of implemLenting a third <br />health insurance plan during the term of this agreement. <br />This third health insurance plan shall be in addition t~ <br />the present Blue Cross and Kaiser S-1 health insurance <br />plans. <br /> <br />For the purpose of providing the aforementioned medical <br />coverage to employees who retire for service on or after <br />their fiftieth (50th) birthday, the City shall contribute <br />an amount equal to one-half (1/2) the monthly premium for <br />said health coverage; in no event, however, shall said <br />City contribution exceed Fifty Dollars ($50.00) per <br />month per employee. Said monthly City contribution <br />shall terminate on the employee's sixty-second (62nd) <br />birthday. <br /> <br />-12- <br /> <br /> <br />
