Section 11. Leaves of Absence <br /> <br />1!.1 <br /> <br />Leave of Absence Without Pay <br /> <br />The Appointing Authority may grant a permanent or pro- <br />bationary employee leave of absence without pay or <br />seniority for not to exceed three (3) months. No such <br />leave shall be granted except in writing and upon written <br />request of the employee setting forth the reason therefor. <br />Upon expiration of a regularly approved leave, the <br />employee shall be reinstated in the position held at <br />the time leave was granted. Failure on the part of an <br />employee on leave to report promptly at its' expiration <br />or within a reasonable time after notice to return to <br />duty shall be cause for discipline. The Police Chief may <br />grant a permanent or probationary emp!cyee leave of <br />absence without pay for not to exceed one (1) calendar <br />week. 'Such leaves shall be reported to the Personnel <br />Officer. <br /> <br />11.2 <br /> <br />Jury LeaVe <br /> <br />Every employee of the City who is called or required t? <br />serve as a juror shall be entitled to leave from his/he.r <br />duties with the City during the period of such service or <br />while necessarily being present in court as a result of <br />such call. The employee shall be paid the difference <br />between his/her full salary and any payment received <br />by him/her, except travel pay, for such duty. <br /> <br />11.3 <br /> <br />Leaves Resulting from Subpoena <br /> <br />Leave of absence with pay shall be granted to a person <br />while going to and from court 'and answering a subpoena <br />as a witness. The employee shall be paid the difference <br />between his/her full salary and any payment received by <br />him/her, except travel pay, for such duty. <br /> <br />11.4 <br /> <br />Military Leave <br /> <br />Military leave shall be granhed in accordance with the <br />provisions of law. All employees enti%_!ed to military <br />leave shall give the Appointing Authority an opportunity <br />within t. he limihs of military regulations to determine <br />when such leave shall be taken. <br /> <br />11.5 <br /> <br />Maternity Leave <br /> <br />The 'Appointing Authority may grant, upon written request, <br />maternity leave without pay for up to six (6) months upon <br />determination that such leave will not adversely effect <br />the needs of the City. <br /> <br />-11- <br /> <br /> <br />
