(` \ ~...~
be dropped off by their pazents/guazdians; however, pazents would pick the children up at the
end of the day.
The proposed after school program would offer activities similaz to many of the other after
school programs. The activities would include, but not be limited to the following:
• Crafts and games
• Music and dance
• Homework and educational advancement
The after school program would use the building's south entrance to sepazate its activities from
that of the church office's. A reception area would be established for the after school program,
and students' sign-in and -out sheets would be available at the counter. The applicant also
indicates that the information package would instruct pazents to use the driveway off Rheem
Drive. It is not only closer to the facility, but its use would avoid after school traffic going
through the office center.
All activities would be strictly limited to indoors as the applicant has applied for an "Exemption
from Licensure" status with the State of California, Department of Social Services. Please refer
to discussion on the licensing issue later in the report.
Please see the attached floor plan and written narrative for additional information on the
proposed use.
IV. ANALYSIS
Conditional uses are uses that, by their nature, require individual review to ensure that impacts
associated with their use will be minimal. Conditional use permits may be subject to appropriate
conditions to ensure that any potential adverse impacts associated with the use will be mitigated.
Land Use
The subject site is zoned Planned Unit Development -Industrial (PUD-I). As previously
mentioned, the approved conditional use permit for the Pleasanton Community Church includes
a Sunday school program and evening bible study sessions. As the original church's conditional
use permit approval does not include an after school program, the use permit application in
question is to amend the original approval. Therefore, if the requested use permit were granted,
the after school program would become a part of the church's operation, and it would become
part of the approved PUD development plan.
Case No. PCUP-84 Planning Commission
Page - 3 -
