Introduction and Summary of Staff Recommendations <br /> <br />A. Introduction <br /> <br /> At the City Council meeting on February 28, you directed <br />staff to prepare a work program for an update of the entire General <br />Plan document in FY 1984-85, as recommended by the Industrial General <br />Plan Committee. You also directed staff to evaluate three options <br />to complete the General Plan update for your consideration on <br />March 27. This report includes an overall approach to updating <br />the General Plan, a detailed work program of tasks, a time and <br />cost schedule, staff's recommendation for which option the Council <br />should consider to implement the General Plan update, and which <br />option is most appropriate for incorporating the forty committee <br />recommendations relating to the General Plan. <br /> <br /> This document is submitted as a staff report but the work <br />program, which is the majority of the report, was prepared by <br />Chandler Lee, planning consultant to the City. <br /> <br />B. Summary of Staff Recommendations <br /> <br />1. Options for Conducting the General Plan Update <br /> <br /> Staff recommends that a General Plan update be con- <br />ducted by the City in FY 1984-85 and that Option. A, retaining <br />Chandler Lee as a General Plan Consultant, be approved by you <br />on March 27. This would involve three actions by the Council: <br /> <br /> a.
