MEMORANDUM <br /> <br />March 27, 1984 <br /> <br />TO: <br /> <br />FROM: <br /> <br />SUBJECT: <br /> <br />Members of the City Council <br /> <br />Councilman Frank C. Brandes, Jr. <br /> <br /> Park Capital Improvement Program Project - Perimeter Fencing <br /> and Warning Track for Phase IV, Pleasanton Sports & Recreation Park <br /> <br />The Park and Recreation Commission reviewed the 1984-85 through 1986-87 <br />Park Capital Improvement Program on March 21, 1984. Because of the special <br />urgency brought about by concern to protect the initial project investment <br />of Phase IV, Pleasanton Sports and Recreation Park, the Commission requested <br />that Project No. 23 proposed by staff, be considered immediately. Project <br />No. 23 includes perimeter fencing for the four softball fields, four gates, <br />a warning track and a mowing strip at an estimated cost of $50,000 in the <br />1984-85 Capital Improvement Program. <br /> <br />The Park and Recreation Commission directed staff to prepare a time-line and <br />budget information regarding this project for Council consideration. <br /> <br />Time-Line Proposed <br /> <br />The Engineering Department has developed the following time-line as a <br />reasonable one for the project if funded at this time: <br /> <br />· April 24 - authorization to go to bid <br /> <br />· May 14 - bids received <br />· May 22 - acceptance of bid <br />June 11 - begin construction <br /> <br />Cost Estimate/Alternatives <br /> <br />The engineering staff has reviewed the cost estimate and has revised it <br />as follows: <br /> <br />ALTERNATIVE #1 , <br /> <br />A. 8' chain-link fence: <br /> (includes required gates) <br /> <br />B. Warning track/mowing strip: <br /> (decomposed granite) <br /> <br />C. Adjust existing irrigation <br /> as necessary: <br /> <br />D. Subtotal: <br /> <br />E. 5% Contingency: <br /> <br />F. Total: <br /> <br />2,280 LF X $10/LF = <br />24,926 SF X $.90/SF = <br />Lump Sum = <br /> <br />$22,800.00 <br />$22,433.40 <br /> <br />$ 2,500.00 <br />$47,733.40 <br /> <br /> 2,386.00 <br />$50,120.00 <br /> <br />-1- <br /> <br /> <br />
