MEMORANDUM March 27, 1984 TO: FROM: SUBJECT: Members of the City Council Councilman Frank C. Brandes, Jr. Park Capital Improvement Program Project - Perimeter Fencing and Warning Track for Phase IV, Pleasanton Sports & Recreation Park The Park and Recreation Commission reviewed the 1984-85 through 1986-87 Park Capital Improvement Program on March 21, 1984. Because of the special urgency brought about by concern to protect the initial project investment of Phase IV, Pleasanton Sports and Recreation Park, the Commission requested that Project No. 23 proposed by staff, be considered immediately. Project No. 23 includes perimeter fencing for the four softball fields, four gates, a warning track and a mowing strip at an estimated cost of $50,000 in the 1984-85 Capital Improvement Program. The Park and Recreation Commission directed staff to prepare a time-line and budget information regarding this project for Council consideration. Time-Line Proposed The Engineering Department has developed the following time-line as a reasonable one for the project if funded at this time: · April 24 - authorization to go to bid · May 14 - bids received · May 22 - acceptance of bid June 11 - begin construction Cost Estimate/Alternatives The engineering staff has reviewed the cost estimate and has revised it as follows: ALTERNATIVE #1 , A. 8' chain-link fence: (includes required gates) B. Warning track/mowing strip: (decomposed granite) C. Adjust existing irrigation as necessary: D. Subtotal: E. 5% Contingency: F.
