4) Prepare conceptual plans with design for curb ramp replacement on all
four comers of the intersecfion.
5) Prepare conceptual park landscape plans (by Callarxler and Associates).
8) Prepare conceptual plena with the `Ultimate" rxrrb IocaNon on the south
side of Valley for eastbound tretfic. Show "Propoaed° striping.
Per email and phone conversation with George FarreN and Mike Tassano on
October 6, 2008, KHA will revise the plan as follows:
1) Bike lanes will be added on the north and south side of the east leg of
Valley Avenue. The bike lanes will be 6 feet wide. This will require the
relocation of the PGBE vault on the north side of the road that was
previously trying to be saved (the vault on the south side will need to be
relocated regardless if bike lanes are added or not).
2) The south side of the east leg of Valley Avenue wiN be redesigned to
accommodate three, 12 foot lanes and a 6 foot bike lane (the ultimate
configuration), but will be shiped for two receiving lanes and a bike lane
at this time. A third receiving lane from the northbound to eastbound right
turn lane could txa provkled, but should be carry short.
3) The bus turn out on Valley Avenue will be removed.
4) New mast arm poles that will replace existing mast arm poles will be
checked to see that the existing foundation is not in the way of the
proposed locaton.
5) The signal has become a completely new installation with the
modifications to the po~ic chop islands on the norths~ast and southeast
corner and associated pole replacement, the replacement of the pole on
the SW corner to accommodate the left tum indication, and a new
controller and cabinet. KHA will design a new signal around the existing
signal to expedite the turn-on, with the possible exception of the
northwest corner (if the pole can be kept in its same location).
8) A WB-50 truck will be used to design this right tum lane, but the striping
will be made wNh a tighter radius in order to slow traffic down due to the
high number of pedestrians. The curb return at the Orloff Park corner will
most likely remain, as previously designed, wkh a radius of 50 feet, but
KHA will check if a smaller one can be used.
Additional Deliverables:
1) Conceptual plan alternatives (Completed)
2) Refine conceptua! plan with curb relocation 9 (nine) feet towards park.
(Completed)
3) Refine conceptual plan to include ultimate curb location -3-12 (twelve)
toot lanes plus 1-8 (six) toot bike lane -and interim striping (2 wide lanes
plus 1 wide bike lane) eastbound on VaNey Avenue
K:~A97061007 • Sane Rita end VeltcyMdminlSanla Rita Chengc Ordcr 10.22-0B.doc Page 3 Of 5
