3. Maintain liaison with the Public Utilities Commission of the <br />State of California, with respect to PUC Order Authorizing Construction. <br /> <br /> 4. Coordinate design activities for portions of the Project which <br />may be designed by City or others. <br /> <br /> 5. Maintain continuous liaison with City, Railroads, Bissell & <br />Karn, Inc., and other interested utility or public agencies. Submit <br />plans and suitable documentation to applicable agencies for review and <br />approval. <br /> <br /> 6. Prepare and assist in processing the Construction and .. <br />Maintenance Agreement between the City and the Railroads. <br /> <br /> 7. Provide continuing consultation and advice to City on all <br />matters .relating to the Project. <br /> <br /> 8. Prepare final design plans, except for those portions of the <br />Project to be designed by Bissell & Karn, Inc. Final design is to be <br />limited to the following: <br /> <br /> o Railroad bridge superstructure and substructure. <br /> o Roadway approaches on Valley Avenue within the limits of <br /> excavation for the underpass. These limits extend from <br /> Stanley Avenue on the south to a point approximately 650 <br /> feet north of the UPRR mainline where the roadway profile <br /> returns to the existing ground surface. <br /> o Drainage within the limits of the' underpass. This will <br /> include the design of a pumping plant. <br /> o Street lights and electrical appurtenances within the underpass <br /> limits. <br /> <br />The geographical limits of the portion of the project to be designed by <br />De Leuw, Cather are shown on Exhibit "B". <br /> <br /> 9. Contract for and direct soil tests and subsurface <br />investigations as necessary for the design of the Project. Soils tests <br />and subsurface investigations are to be conducted by a person or persons <br />licensed for the performance of such services by the State of <br />California and approved by the City. <br /> <br /> 10. Design temporary track .relocation plans and/or grading plans <br />for said trackwork, if these tasks are not performed by Railroads. <br /> <br /> 11. Prepare detailed engineering estimates of construction cost for <br />the items designed under paragraph (8) above. <br /> <br /> 12. Prepare applicable specifications for those elements of work <br />described in paragraph 8 above. These specifications will be furnished <br />to the City for inclusion in the Special Provisions to be assembled and <br />produced by the City. <br /> <br /> <br />
