Attachment A
Scope of Services
Bernal Community Park Phase 2
Harris Design
Prepared 10/6/08
Page ~ of Fl
1.08 Site Access, Parking, and Utilities Study
Develop a range of feasible options for vehicular access, pazking, extension of site utilities to
Phase 2, and provisions for Phase 3 site utilities, described in more detail below:
• Prepare layout for a Bernal Turn Pocket alternative entrance. Turn pocket study will
include: a) survey of trees, edge of pavement and ditch as needed for preliminary
mapping, b) layout of turn pocket which best fits existing trees and Phase 1 entrance, c)
meeting with City staff to review turn pocket length and location, and minor revisions
to turn pocket design.
• Prepare Phase 2 hydrology calculations for site and vehicular drainage for drainage
discharge co the roadside channel along Bernal Avenue. Bellecci will use previous
hydraulic study from City (of the downstream future culvert at Pleasanton Avenue) to
develop the "starting HGL" for the Bernal roadside channel connection.
• For drainage to Phase 1, it is assumed the Phase One - 24" pipe is oversized to accept
drainage from Phase 2. Therefore, the pipes discharging into Phase 1 will be sized
based on a "stazting HGL" from the Phase 1 hydraulic study.
• The Sanitary Sewer study will involve Master Planning of the sewer laterals xo the two
restroom building sites and the trash container (Phase 2 and Phase 3). Sewer
connections from Phase 1 will be compared to sewer connections along Bernal. The
preferred alignment will be based on cost and engineering benefits of each design.
• The Joint Trench study will involve Master Planning of the joint trench to the two
restroom building sites and the Phase 2 and Phase a lighting controller. Joint Trench /
electrical service point will be from the north side of Bernal. This task will include
contacting PG&E [o coordinate service connection requirements and available power.
• The Water Line study will involve Master Planning of the water laterals to the two
restroom building sites, drinking fountains and the irrigation backflows for Phase 2 and
Phase 3. Water connections/meters from Phase 1 will be compared to water
connections/meters along Bernal. The preferred alignment will be based on cost and
engineering benefits of each design, along with cost of meters.
1.09 Staff Review Meeting
Meet with Staff to review site access, parking, and utilities study as a basis For schematic site
planning. Review architectural components to confirm program, space needs, operational &
maintenance needs, materials and initial design intent. Discuss goals for stadium component
and outline strategies to address programmatic needs while considering visibility, potential for
iconic forms, and visual impacts within park. Receive direction to proceed with schematic
design plans.
1.10 Oak Woodland Study
Prepare study to establish design concepts for the native woodland/grassland component. The
study will identify proposed plant species and will correlate them to anticipated environmental
conditions including site soils, landform grading, shade, and drainage. Planting techniques,
