Commissioner Sullivan stated his disapproval with having houses backing up to sound walls, and
suggested having a landscape soundwall with a buffer zone. Further, he stated he does not support the
tentative map.
Discussion ensued between the commissioners and staff relating to the density of the project, the
possibility of having the applicant returning with a revised PUD, and time limits relating to vesting
maps.
Mr. Krah readdressed the Commission and provided background information relating to the PUD and
the Tentative Map. There was considerable discussion relating to the history of this project, the density
of this project, and the General Plan. Commissioner Sullivan expressed disagreement with having the
open iron fencing on Stoneridge Drive facing the housing for noise issues.
A motion was made by Commissioner Sullivan, seconded by Commissioner Kumaran, to deny
approval of the Vesting Tentative Map 7008.
(There was no vote on this motion.)
Mr. Krah readdressed the Commission and inquired as to what the Commissioners wish to see in the
project. He stated his understanding is they want lower density in the project, and stated that in the
event Stoneridge Drive is completed that eliminates approximately ten percent of the project. Further,
he requested that the Commission continue the heazing for an additional two weeks.
In response to a request by Mr. Iserson relating to the Commission providing direction to the applicant
and staff, Chairperson Cooper stated his desire for the density in the project to become more in line with
the General Plan. Commissioner Sullivan stated he would like to see the street layout and housing
layout modified to reflect the concerns raised relating to the frontage on Stoneridge Drive. In addition,
he requested that Mr. Krah address issues relating to utilizing an open fence versus a soundwall in the
project.
A motion was made by Commissioner Maas, seconded by Commissioner Roberts, that the hearing
be continued to the next available date.
The motion carried. (Note: This item will be heard at the July 22, 1998 meeting.)
e. UP-98-30.
