Chair Cooper suggested that a restroom facility and additional parking be considered and made available <br />for hikers along the trails. He expressed concern with hikers entering the golf course grounds to use the <br />restroom facilities. He also asked whether the restaurant would be open during the off-season, and Mr. <br />Higdon stated he thought it would. <br />In response to a question by Commissioner Roberts, Mr. Higdon stated that the restaurant is not intended <br />to be rented out for weddings or banquets, especially due to potential noise problems. <br />On behalf of the Commission, Chair Cooper thanked Mr. Higdon for his presentation. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Roberts, seconded by Commissioner Maas, recommending <br />approval of the concept design of the Golf Course Clubhouse and Facilities. <br />ROLL CALL VOTE: <br />AYES: Commissioners Kumazan, Maas, Roberts, and Sullivan, and Chair Cooper <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br />ABSTAIN: None <br />Resolution No. PC-98-41 was entered and adopted as motioned. <br />9. COMMUNICATIONS <br />Commissioner Kumazan informed the new Commission members that he is the Planning Commission's <br />liaison to the Affordable Housing Commission. He provided information relating to the upcoming <br />Affordable Housing tour and encouraged everyone to attend. In addition, he briefly described a recent <br />Affordable Housing Commission meeting where it was revealed that affordable housing development <br />does not impact the value of surrounding homes. <br />He also reported that he and Commission Maas attended the North Sycamore Neighbor's Association <br />meeting relating to the New Cities Development. He briefly described the meeting and the residents' <br />concerns. He distributed a letter of concern by the neighbors to the Planning Commission. <br />Mr. Iserson noted that staff has been attempting to get the neighbors and New Cities Development <br />together to try to work out their conflicts. He stated that staff intends to raise this issue further at the <br />next meeting and will recommend three or four different options for the North Sycamore Specific Plan <br />Area for the Commission's consideration. Based on comments received at that meeting, staff will make <br />a formal presentation and recommendation sometime in the near future. <br />Commissioner Roberts reported that she and Commissioner Dove met Mr. Scharton of the Downtown <br />Association, and he invited the Planning Commission for a tour through Downtown Pleasanton. <br />Commission Sullivan noted that the Greenbelt Alliance is hosting a walk through downtown this <br />Saturday from 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. He stated that any interested persons could make reservations by <br />calling 1-800-543-GREEN. <br />Planning Commission Minutes Page 15 May 27, 1998 <br />
