She requested that Item 6.e. either be moved to be the first public <br />hearing reviewed or that it be deferred to the next meeting as the first public hearing. <br />Chair Cooper advised Ms. Vazela that the agenda is not prioritized in order of importance, noting that <br />the items listed before 6.e. are matters of regular business that should not take as long as Item 6.e. He <br />also stated that there will be a second public heazing on March 11, 1998 on the issue and that will offer <br />another opportunity for the community to give input. Ms. Varela specifically requested that the notice <br />for the Mazch 11, 1998 meeting be more detailed in a lay terms so that the average person can <br />understand the meaning of the notice. <br />Commissioner Kumazan asked Mr. Iserson whether this issue could be the first public heazing at the next <br />meeting. Mr. Iserson suggested that a special heazing be considered because it would not be fair to have <br />other applicants with routine business who have been previously scheduled on that agenda wait up to <br />five or six hours before their application is reviewed. A brief discussion took place regazding how the <br />Agenda is prioritized. It was agreed that in all fairness items of regulaz business should be heard first <br />since they move along much more quickly than items involving extensive public input. Mr. Iserson also <br />suggested that the Commission address the issue of scheduling a special meeting for Item 6.e. with Brian <br />Swift when he arrives this evening. <br />Commissioner Barker suggested to Ms. Varela that she contact staff to give her input on how she feels <br />the wording on the public notices should be amended. <br />4. REVISIONS AND OMISSIONS TO THE AGENDA <br />Mr. Iserson noted that Item 6.c., PUD-97-21, and Item 6.f., Altamont Rail Commuter Express Interim <br />Station at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds, have been continued to the Mazch 11, 1998, meeting. <br />5. MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />There were none. <br />6. PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />a. UP-98-O5. Kelly D. Burge <br />Application for au non-exempt home occupation approval to conduct piano and voice lessons in an <br />existing residence located at 3495 Isle Royal Court. Zoning for the property is R-I-6500. <br />Jerry Iserson presented the staff report describing the history of the application. He noted, however, that <br />the applicant has amended her request for approval of eight students per day, Monday through Friday. <br />The proposed lessons would be conducted from the living room of the applicant's home, and no recitals <br />would be held there. He described the available parking in the applicant's driveway and directly in front <br />of her home. He also reviewed the anticipated traffic generation, noting that it has been estimated to be <br />consistent with the average residential household. Staff has included a condition of approval limiting <br />the amount of students to eight per day, Monday through Friday, in order to control any potential traffic <br />impacts. The applicant is in agreement with this condition.
