ROLL CALL VOTE
AYES: Commissioners Bazker, Dove, Kumazan, and Wright and Chair Cooper
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None
Resolution No. PC-98-08 was entered and adopted as motioned.
b. Proaosed Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Headquarters (Analicant: City of Pleasanton:
Owner: Frank Auf de Maur, et al.
Mr. Iserson presented the staff report and stated that this is an application by the City of Pleasanton for
determination that the City purchase of the site for a planned headquarters building for administration,
and emergency fire and medical services for the Cities of Pleasanton and Livermore is in conformance
with the General Plan and PUD. He noted that the property is in Stanley Business Park, located off Del
Valle Pazkway west of Bernal Avenue. He also stated that the proposed building would be operated in
conjunction with the soon to be constructed Fire Station No. 4. The building would be staffed by
approximately 22 employees. The proposed facility will be subject to design review approval by this
Commission upon completion of the plans.
- Mr. Iserson also reported that since the intended use of the proposed building would be for business and
professional office use, it is consistent with the Land Use Element of the Pleasanton General Plan. It
would also be consistent with a policy of the Public Facilities Element encouraging the construction of
new facilities to serve the City as it develops. In addition, the proposed site would accommodate the
services needs for the recently expanded Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department and, at the same time,
be easily accessible to both cities. In addition, staff feels the proposed building is in conformance with
the permitted use of the Stanley Business Park PUD since this would be essentially an
office/administrative use, which is allowed by the PUD.
Mr. Iserson also stated that staff sent notices of the proposed project to all property owners within 1,000
feet of the site. Prior to sending out the notices, there was one concern voiced by a resident relating to a
possible noise issue concerning the Fire Station itself. However, since sending out the notices for this
facility, there have been no complaints or responses.
Finally, Mr. Iserson stated that staff feels that the acquisition of the property would be consistent with
the Pleasanton General Plan and PUD and recommended that the Planning Commission support staffs
recommendations.
In response to a question raised by Commissioner Wright, Mr. Iserson stated that a preliminary
meeting was held relating to the proposed azchitecture of the building. Although he has not seen any
designs, he understood that the building would be atwo-story and would be attached to the Fire
-- Department.
Planning Commission Page 4 February 11, 1998
