a
n
0
City of Pleasanton a
a
Phase 'Z -Geometric Feasibihty Study
The project limits are along southbound I-680, from 500' north of the existing southbound Bernal
Avenue loop off-ramp to the 500' south of the existing southbound Bernal Avenue diagonal on-
ramp, and along Bernal Avenue from Tapestry Way to Koll Center Drive, in Pleasanton, CA.
The feasibility study will investigate the viability of constructing the preferred alternative
recommended in Phase 1 of the scope of services based on roadway geometrics only. No other
investigations are included in this scope.
Task 2.1 - Doto Gathering and Project Constraints
Topographic mapping for The project limits will be provided by the City during the kickoff meeting.
KHA will review the mapping for completeness and inform the City if collection of additional data is
necessary before advancing with the feasibility study. KHA will perform two (2) field reviews to
identify constraints that might affect the horizontal and vertical alignment of the ramps. These
constraints will be limited to approximate right-of-way, access, and geometric restrictions.
Task 2.2 - Development of Altemafives
Task 2.2.1 Code-in Original Ground Line-KHA will read-off existing contour lines and spot
elevations from the topographic mapping provided by the City, and plot these elevations in
AutoCAD to create a set of points to approximate the original ground elevations along the proposed
alignment of the ramps. This original ground line will be used as a base to draw vertical geometrics.
Task 2.2.2 Create Horizontal Alignment, Vertical Alignment, and Typical Cross-Section - A
horizontal alignment, along with an associated vertical alignment and typical section will be
developed for the preferred alternative recommended in Phase 1. The September 2006 edition of
the Caltrans Highway Design Manual will be used as the source for geometric design standards.
Task 2.2.3 Create Layout Sheets, Profile Sheets, and Key Map -Layout sheets will be created to
display horizontal alignments. A 1":50' scale will be used for layout sheets. A maximum of three (3)
layout sheets are included in this scope. If necessary for clarity, a key map will be created as a guide
to the various layout sheets. Profile sheets will be created to display vertical olignment. A 1 ":50'
scale (with a 1:10 Horizontal :Vertical exaggeration) will be used for profile sheets. A maximum of
three (3) profile sheets are included in this scope. A sample of typical layout /profile sheets is
include at the end of this section.
Task 2.3 - Geomehic Feasibility Sfudy Technirnl Memorandum
Task 2.3.1 Drofi Technical Memorandum -KHA will document the results of the feasibility analysis
and prepare a technical memorandum of our findings and conclusions, along with a list of future
considerations and recommended next steps. We will submit three (3) hard copies and an electronic
copy of the technical memorandum to the City for review.
__.. --
IV. Project Delivery 16 ~~~ ~'~
TL820087.08
