Attachment 1 <br />City of Pleasanton <br />Environment & Sustainability Program Summary <br />C ity Programs- Continued <br />Program ServiceslPractices <br />Collection and Exchange Programs Used battery collection: LPFD is working with city staff regarding <br /> collection of batteries from the public. <br /> Gingerbread Preschool recycles batteries and is transitioning to <br /> rechargeable batteries. <br /> Senior Center Battery Disposal Program -Senior Center participants <br /> are encouraged to use the City's Safe Battery Disposal containers <br /> Thermometer Exchange: Residential mercury thermometers can be <br /> exchanged for digital thermometers. <br />Environment and Stormdrain Protection: LPFD apparatus are equipped with absorbent and staff is trained to <br />Response to hazardous materials releases or respond to hazardous spills, manage incidents, data and necessary <br />storm drain pollution reporting. <br /> City staff responds to storm drain and waterway pollution complaints... <br /> Coordinate cleanup with environmental cleanup companies or partner <br /> between city departments and work with local media and radio to issue <br /> public information to prevent pollution. <br />Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition SCADA, an automated method for operating utility operations, uses a <br />System Program (SCADA) time of use system designed to pump water in off-peak hours. The <br /> system reduces costs and peak load on the regional PG&E electrical <br /> grid. As a standard practice for all additions and upgrades to the City's <br /> waters stem, ener efficient a ui ment is used. <br />Bay Area Certified Green Business Program The City of Pleasanton Mechanic Shop is a certified Bay Area Green <br /> Business. <br />City_Divisions <br />Division Name ServiceslPractices <br />Urban Runoff/Clean Water Division Yearly Earth Day: Work with Zone 7 Water to organize and participate <br /> in events that increase public awareness about the environment, local <br /> waterways and watershed. Issue media materials to promote events. <br /> California Coastal Cleanup Day: Pleasanton waterways are surveyed <br /> for trash and prioritized for volunteer cleanup.
