Attachment 1 <br />City of Pleasanton <br />Environment & Sustainability Program Summary <br />Ci Divisions- Cointinued <br />Division Name Services/Practices <br />Water Conservation Division City Water Utility Programs: Irrigations System Design and Usage, <br />Water Efficiency&oversight required by California Water Code and City's Urban Water <br /> Management Plan. <br /> State Department of Health Services (now Department of <br /> Environmental Health) and Federal Environmental Protection Agency: <br /> comply with water quality testing requirements for municipal drinking <br /> water systems. <br /> Oversight, analysis and monitoring to meet state disinfection <br /> regulations for city and Zone 7 chloramination systems. <br /> Groundwater quality monitoring: Unregulated Chemical Monitoring <br /> Rule (UCMR) requirements. <br /> Lead/Copper consumer tap water quality sampling and reporting. <br /> Prepare and implement necessary Federal requirements. <br /> Water Quality Lab Certifications: conducted every two years. Lab <br /> inspections conducted annually. <br /> Annual Consumer Confidence Report: Develop, publish and distribute <br /> results of water quality tests each calendar year. <br /> Central Irrigation Control system manages water at 90% of city sites <br /> and reduces water use by 20-30% each year. <br /> Pleasanton staff serves as a representative to the ACCWP <br /> Management Committee to develop policies impacting ACCWP's <br /> program budget, National Pollution Discharge Elimination System <br /> (NPDES) permit compliance activities, and public <br /> information/education programs. <br /> Administration of water conservation elements in accordance with <br /> California Water Code. <br /> Rebates: for commercial customers using water efficient landscape <br /> irrigation equipment, replacement of high flush toilets with ultra low <br /> flush toilets and high efficiency clothes washers. <br /> Public Education: outreach mailers and a Waterwise Gardening CD, <br /> promotion of PG&E's rebate program for high efficiency residential <br /> dishwashers. <br />-6- <br />U:\Energy\Pleasanton -Environment and Sustainability Programs Survey 2008 7-3 Final.doc <br />
