Recognition <br /> Local 1974, Inte~national AssoCiation of Fire Fighters, <br /> AFL-CIO-CLC, hereinafter referred to as the "Union", is <br /> the formally recognized employee organization for the <br /> Fire Employees Unit comprised of the classifications of <br /> Firefighter, Fire Engineer, Fire Lieutenant, and Fire <br /> Captain, certified pursuant to the Employer-Employee <br /> Relations Procedures & Resolution No. 71-75, adopted by <br /> the City of Pleasanton City Council on April 5, 1971. <br /> <br /> Section 2. Union Security <br /> <br /> 2.1 Dues Deduction <br /> <br /> Upon receipt of a written assignment and authorization <br /> signed by the employee on the form shown below, the City <br /> agrees to deduct from an employeels paycheck an amount <br /> which will total the dues uniformly required for <br /> membership in the Union. The amount so deducted shall <br /> be remitted by the City to the officer designated in <br /> writing by the President of the Union as the person <br /> authorized to receive such funds. <br /> <br /> The President of the Union shall notify the City Manager <br /> in writing as to the amount of such dues uniformly <br /> required of all members of the Union. <br /> <br /> The employeels earnings must be regularly sufficient <br /> after other legal and required deductions are made to <br /> cover the amount of the dues checkoff authorized. When <br /> an employee is in a non-pay status for an entire pay <br /> period, no withholding will, be made to cover that pay <br /> period from future earnings. In the case of an employee <br /> who is in a non-pay status during only part of the pay <br /> period, and the salary is not sufficient to cover the <br /> full withholding, no deduction shall be made. In this <br /> connection, all other legal and required deductions have <br /> priority over union dues. In addition, in order to meet <br /> certain accounting deadlines, all payroll changes <br /> connected with the deduction of said union dues must be <br /> made by the fifteenth (15th) of the preceding month. <br /> <br /> - 4 - <br /> <br /> <br />
