The Union and the International Association of Fire <br /> Fighters, AFL-CIP-CLC, shall indemnify, defend, and hold <br /> the City harmless against any and all claims, demands, <br /> suits, proceedings or court orders, or any other <br /> liability that may arise out of or by reason of action <br /> taken or not taken by the City for the purpose of <br /> complying with any of the provisions of this check-off <br /> agreement. In addition, the Union shall refund to the <br /> City any amounts paid to it in error upon presentation <br /> of supporting evidence. <br /> <br /> The employee's authorization request shall be in the <br /> following terms: <br /> <br /> Date: <br /> "You are hereby authorized and requested to deduct from <br /> wages due me such amount as which will total the current <br /> amount of my union dues as reported to you by the <br /> President of Local No. 1974, International Association <br /> of Fire Fighters, AFL-CIO-CLC and to make such <br /> deductions for each and every succeeding month unless <br /> and until I revoke this assignment in writing. You are <br /> hereby authorized and you are to pay the total amount <br /> deducted each month to Local No. 1974". This assignment <br /> is voluntary. <br /> <br /> Signature <br /> <br />2.2 Communication with Employees, <br /> <br /> Any representative of the International Union shall give <br /> notice to the Fire Chief when contacting City employees <br /> during the duty period of the employees, provided that <br /> solicitation for membership or other internal employee <br /> organization business shall be conducted only during the <br /> off-duty hours of all employees concerned. <br /> Prearrangement for routine contact may be made by <br /> agreement between the Union and the Fire Chief and when <br /> made shall continue until revoked. <br /> <br /> - 5 - <br /> <br /> <br />
