The survey shall determine the total compensation paid to the <br />classification of firefighter in each city surveyed as of May 1, <br />1987. The City with the highest total compensation for the <br />classification of firefighter shall be ranked first on the <br />survey, the City with the next highes~ total compensation for the <br />class of firefighter ranked second, etc. Total compensation is <br />defined as the total of the following: <br /> <br />1. Monthly, base, top step salary for the classification of <br /> firefighter except that the top step salary of the <br /> classification of firefighter in the City of Palo Alto shall <br /> be increased by 1% to reflect the annual adjustment paid to <br /> the employees of that City. <br /> <br />2. Monthly Retirement Costs paid by City. <br /> <br />3. Monthly Health Insurance Premiums paid by City. <br /> <br />4. Monthly Life Insurance Premiums paid by City. <br /> <br />5. Monthly Dental Premiums paid by City. <br /> <br /> - 8 - <br /> <br /> <br />
