2. Monthly Retirement Costs paid by city. 3. Monthly Health Insurance Premiums paid by city. 4. Monthly Life Insurance Premiums paid by city. 5. Monthly Dental Premiums paid by city. 6. Monthly Long Term Disability Premiums paid by city. 7. Holiday. Pay (calculated on a monthly basis) paid by city using the formulas set forth in Appendix B. 8. Uniform Allowance (calculated on a monthly basis) paid by city. The monthly uniform allowance paid by the City of Palo Alto shall be calculated as $60.00 per month. The resultant increase in total compensation (if any) shall be distributed first to offset any increase on June 1, 1987 in the present Kaiser health insurance plan monthly premium for full family coverage, any increase effective January 1, 1987 in the monthly premium for the present dental plan, and any increase effective April 1, 1987 in the present long term disability plan. Any money remaining after the foregoing distribution shall be used to increase the monthly base wage of the classification of police officer and police sergeant to include offsetting any increase in retirement costs resulting therefrom. 5.2 Field Training Officer Pay Qualified field training officers shall receive an amount equal to five percent (5%) of their base monthly pay for each month they devote five (5) days or more to the training of new full time or reserve officers. 5.3 On Call Pay Employees who on their scheduled days off duty are placed on an on call status by a supervisor for a minimum period of eight (8) hours or more shall receive an amount equal to fifteen percent (15%) of their hourly base rate of pay for each hour spent on call. 5.4 Entrance Salary The entrance salary for a new employee entering the City service shall be the minimum salary for the class to which he/she is appointed. When circumstances warrant, the Appointing Authority may authorize original appointment or reinstatement at other than the minimum rate. Memorandum of Understanding Page 5
