services as determined by the City. Such employee <br /> representatives shall submit written requests for <br /> excused absences to the Police Chief, with an <br /> information copy to the Personnel Officer, at least two <br /> (2) calendar days prior to the scheduled meeting <br /> whenever possible. No more than two (2) employees shall <br /> be excused for such purposes. The Association shall <br /> submit a list of the officers of the Association to the <br /> City Manager and notify the City Manager in writing at <br /> such time there are any changes in such Association <br /> officers. <br /> <br />Section 5. Salaries <br /> <br />5.1 Rates of Pay <br /> <br /> The salary ranges for all employees in the Police <br /> Employee Unit as set forth below represent, for each <br /> classification, the standard rate of pay for full time <br /> employment and represent the total compensation due <br /> employees, except for overtime compensation and other <br /> benefits specifically provided by the City. Effective <br /> January 1, 1986, the salary range of each classification <br /> shall provide monthly salary ranges as follows: <br /> <br /> Classification step A Step B Step C step D step E <br /> <br /> Police Officer 2274 2389 2510 2641 2770 <br /> Sergeant 2691 2819 2964 3109 3267 <br /> <br /> The City shall conduct a survey of total compensation <br /> for the classifications of police officer and police <br /> sergeant among the cities listed in Appendix A. The <br /> survey shall determine the total compensation paid to <br /> the classification of police officer and police sergeant <br /> in each city surveyed as of November 15, 1986. <br /> Effective January 1, 1987, the total compensation paid <br /> by the city to the classifications of police officer and <br /> police sergeant shall be increased for the purpose of <br /> placing said total compensation equal to the 95th <br /> percentile of the aforementioned survey. The survey's <br /> 95th percentile is defined as the midpoint between the <br /> first and second survey city. The City with the highest <br /> total compensation for the particular classification <br /> shall be ranked first on the surveys, the city with the <br /> next highest total compensation for the particular <br /> classification shall be ranked second on the survey, <br /> etc. Total compensation is defined as the total of the <br /> following: <br /> <br /> 1. Monthly, Base, Top Step Salary for the <br /> classifications of police officer and police <br /> sergeant except that $60.00 shall be added to the <br /> base, top step salary of police officer and police <br /> sergeant in the City of San Leandro. <br /> <br />Memorandum of Understanding <br />Page 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
