Alameda County Transportation Improvement Authority <br />Special Transportation for Seniors and People with Disabilities <br />During this fiscal yeaz, PPS staff organized the Third Annual Transit Fair on Mazch 17, 2008, <br />including representatives from PPS, Wheels, BART, ACTIA, ACE Train, and Pleasanton <br />Police Department. Wheels provided ADA certification information, as well as information <br />on Regional Transit Cards. The City of Pleasanton's Police Department provided information <br />on identity theft, and everyone enjoyed the St. Patrick's Day luncheon and entertainment. <br />PPS and LAVTA staff have worked closely to develop a variety of travel training <br />opportunities. Three (3)travel-training trips with LAVTA, including both local and Alameda <br />County travel, were planned. Quarterly one-on-one transit Counselor appointments have been <br />scheduled at the Pleasanton Senior Center and proved very successful. Athree-day travel <br />training class is planned for spring 2008. Coordinated outreach and training opportunities <br />have also been completed as part of the Pilot Downtown Route marketing campaign. <br />The PPS Driver Training Program is under the supervision of Brent Hull, California Licensed <br />School Bus Instructor. In October 2007, all PPS drivers participated in a defensive driving <br />update class. Recruitment and training of three (3) new part-time drivers is underway, and <br />should be completed by Mazch 2008. The selection of a new full-time driver will be <br />completed in April, with on-going driver audits scheduled to begin in May. <br />The research and marketing of the Pilot Downtown Route began in fal12007, with driver <br />training completed in December 2007. The DTR began operating in January 2008, and has <br />completed 271 trips and attracted over 50 regular users to the program by Mazch 2008. Staff <br />continues to meet weekly to review any issues or concerns, as well as provide on-going <br />outreach and education. The initial rider responses have been very positive, with clients <br />enjoying the same day ride appeal and low cost fazes. Riders are anxious for expanded <br />service to other parts of Pleasanton. <br />• What needs or priorities have been identified that will be met by proposed service <br />changes? <br />• What needs or priorities will still not be met even after implementing proposed service <br />changes? <br />How many potential riders do you estimate will use this service this coming fiscal <br />Resaonse• <br />The Pleasanton Pazatransit Task Force continues to evaluate the service delivery system and <br />clients' needs.
