Lee <br /> Revised February 5, 1987 <br /> Page 6 <br /> <br />demand, the appropriateness of a policy restricting ground <br />floor uses to retail only, the importance of the downtown <br />branch bank policy, and the likely impact of the proposed <br />shopping center on downtown retailers. <br /> <br />The shortcoming of this component, without any household <br />survey work, is that it will provide limited data on the <br />perceptions, attitudes and preferences of Pleasanton resi- <br />dents regarding downtown, and no information on the residents <br />who do not now patronize downtown businesses. Consequently, <br />it will require a largely judgmental identification of the <br />specific kinds of activities that are likely to enhance the <br />market synergy of the downtown. We will, however, draw on <br />the household survey completed by BBW Inc. in 1983 to supple- <br />ment our work with as much information on resident percep- <br />tions of downtown as is available. <br /> <br />The basic tasks involved in this component of the study are <br />as follows: <br /> <br /> Task I.l: Analyze Historical Retail Sales <br /> in Alameda County, Eastern Alameda <br /> Count~/, and the Cit~; of Pleasanton <br /> <br /> This task would analyze historical retail sales data <br />from the State Board of Equalization as well as historical <br />population data to identify the role of Pleasanton as a <br />retailer in the region and highlight important trends that <br /> <br /> <br />
