Section 903.2.7 Group R of the California Building Standards Code 2007 Edition (24 <br />C.C.R.), and including by reference the International Building Code, 2006 Edition, <br />Volumes 1 and 2, is amended to read as follows: <br />903.2.7 Installation of Fire Sprinklers in Residential Occupancies. The installation of <br />fire sprinkler systems in Grope R buildings up to fifteen (15) units and up to a maximum <br />of twelve thousand (12,000) square feet maximum shall be accomplished using the <br />National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 13D-2005 Edition as may be herewith <br />amended. <br />Chapter 1-General Information. <br />Section 1-1 Scope: <br />This standard describes the requirements for the mechanical and performance <br />properties of the sprinkler itself. It also describes the requirements for the installation of <br />the complete sprinkler system for residential occupancies up to fifteen (15) units or <br />twelve thousand square feet (12,000) maximum. <br />Chapter 1-General Information -amended <br />Section 1-5.4 is amended to read: <br />Section 1-5.4 All systems shall be tested for leakage at 200 psi for one (1) hours <br />mininum. <br />Chapter 1-General Information -added <br />Section 1-5.6 is added to read: <br />Section 1-5.6 All sprinkler piping shall be either non-ferrous metallic pipe (copper, or <br />brass) or CPVC. All piping above the flow switch should be protected by sheet rock or <br />plywood. Note: No ferrous (black iron, iron or galvanized) pipe is permitted. Fire <br />sprinkler riser check valves shall be approved by the City and Fire Prevention Bureau. <br />CHAPTER 3-System Components -amended <br />Section 3-1.1 Valves and Drains is amended: <br />Section 3-1.1 Exception No. 1 (a) amended to read: <br />(a) To a Underwriters Laboratory (UL) listed Central Station Service. <br />(b) Delete (b) and (c). <br />CHAPTER 3--System Components -amended: <br />43 <br />
