In the event of multiplex or other con~nunication failure from the
master to a particular intersection controller unit, the controller unit
shall revert to free operation.

I ntersec ti on ..F1 .ash Prog r. am

It shall be possible for the operator to place any intersection or
group of intersections in flash or to return the intersection or group
of intersections from flash to system control, from either immediate
keyboard command; or from a subsystem pattern number.

Standby Operati on

It shall be possible for the operator to place the local
intersection or group of intersections in the standby mode, or to take
the intersection or group of intersections out of the standby mode from
immediate keyboard command; or from subsystem pattern number. The
intersection shall operate in standby under the following circumstances:

(a) If the intersection is not assigned to a coordinated subsystem, it
shall operate in standby.
