7. MATTERS INITIATED BY COMMISSION MEMBERS

Commendation for Phil Grubstick upon his retirement

Commissioner Blank moved to commend Phil Grubstick for the years of
meritorious service that he had given the City and the Planning Commission. He
requested a formal proclamation drawn up for each Planning Commissioner to sign.
Chairperson Fox seconded the motion.

ROLL CALL VOTE:

AYES: Commissioners Blank, Fox, O’Connor, Olson, and Pearce.
NOES: None.
ABSTAIN: None.
RECUSED: None.
ABSENT: Commissioner Narum.

The motion passed.

AM/PM Gas Station

Chairperson Fox noted that the Fairlands Gas Station, formerly US Gas, on Bernal
Avenue had recently changed their signage to become an AM/PM, and in doing so, some
paint and siding had been missing for about a month. She requested that staff look at that
site because the signage had gone through four Planning Commission hearings.

Ms. Decker noted that staff would follow up on that request.

a. Tabled motion: Consideration of whether to take the motion made by
Commissioner Olson on July 11, 2007 from the table; if majority support to do so,
then consider Commissioner Olson’s July 11, 2007 motion.

No discussion was held or action taken.

b. Discussion of the types of projects to be placed on the Consent Calendar.

Chairperson Fox noted that Commissioner Narum was not present, and that this item
should be heard when she was in attendance.

c. Appointment to the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee.

Commissioner Blank moved to nominate Commissioner Pearce to the Bicycle and
Pedestrian Advisory Committee.
Chairperson Fox seconded the motion.

PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES September 26, 2007 Page 17 of 20
