PROPOSED SPHERE OF INFLUENCE MODIFICATIONS

LAFdO has initiated a review of Pleasanton's sphere-of-influence
and has requested that the City make a recommendation to them
regarding its sphere boundaries. The City is requesting that the
sphere-of-influence be expanded to include the entire Planning
Area and Expanded Planning Area as adopted per the 1986
Pleasanton Plan. Although much of the outlying areas are
currently designated as special study zones, and there are no
clearly established development patterns for them, the
probability of some form of public or private development taking
place there in the next 20 years is almost certain. In order to
have a positive influence on these areas and begin determining
what levels of service the City must ultimately provide to them,

now is the appropriate time to include these areas within
Pleasanton's sphere-of-influence.

The expanded sphere area has been divided into seven sub-areas.
Each is unique in its topography and in its purpose for being
included within the proposed sphere.

1.
