6.7 Leaves of Absence <br /> 6.7(1) Leaves of Absence Without Pay <br /> <br /> The appointing authority may grant a full time <br /> management or confidential employee leave of absence <br /> without pay or seniority for not to exceed three (3) <br /> months. No such leave shall be granted except in <br /> writing and upon written request of the employee setting <br /> forth the reason therefor. Upon expiration of a <br /> regularly approved leave, the employee shall be <br /> reinstated in the position held at the time leave was <br /> granted. Failure on the part of an employee on leave to <br /> report promptly at its expiration or within a reasonable <br /> time after notice to return to duty shall be cause for <br /> discipline. Department directors may grant full time <br /> management and confidential employees leave of absence <br /> without pay for not to exceed one (1) calendar week. <br /> Such leaves shall be reported to the personnel officer. <br /> <br /> 6.7(2) Jury Leave <br /> <br /> Management and confidential employees called or required <br /> to serve as a juror shall be entitled to leave from <br /> his/her duties with the city during the period of such <br /> service or while necessarily being present in court as a <br /> result of such call. <br /> <br /> 6.7(3) Military Leave <br /> <br /> Military leave shall be granted in accordance with the <br /> provisions of law. All employees entitled to military <br /> leave shall give the Appointing Authority an opportunity <br /> within the limits of military regulations to determine <br /> when such leave shall be taken. <br /> <br /> 6.7(4) Maternity Leave <br /> <br /> The Appointing Authority may grant, upon written <br /> request, maternity leave without pay up to six (6) <br /> months upon determination that such leave will not <br /> adversely effect the needs of the city. <br /> <br />Section 7. Retirement <br /> 7.1 Membership <br /> <br /> All eligible management and confidential employees shall <br /> be members of the Public Employees~ Retirement System. <br /> <br /> - 11 - <br /> <br /> <br />
