BSK, as Geotechnical Engineer-of-Record, has conducted a subsurface soils <br />investigation for the design and construction of this project and submitted a report dated January 30, <br />2001 (reference BSK Job No. 04-20-0679). <br />1. BSK Scope of'Services and Proposed Approach <br />Based on our knowledge of site conditions as Geotechnical Engineer-of-Record and review of <br />project plans, we propose to provide the following scope of services: (1) collect samples of <br />subgrade, road base and trench backfill materials for laboratory moisture/density curve <br />determinations and sieve analyses; (2) perform field observations and nuclear field density tests to <br />monitor compaction; (3) provide field observation and monitoring of the drilled pier foundations for <br />the pedestrian bridge and retaining wall structures; (4) provide geotechnical consultation services, as <br />required; (5) document test data and observations through field daily reports and monthly job <br />progress reports; and (6) submit a Final Report at the completion of the project. <br />Work performed by our field technicians and inspectors will be in accordance with the contract <br />documents and approved standard methods. However, in the event our staff encounters a condition <br />in which the contract documents contain unclear, contradictory or inadequate information to permit <br />the completion of the work, a "Request for Information" (RFI) will be submitted to the Project <br />Manager, Structural Engineer and/or other parties, as required.
